BHBW provides customer based solutions and products to the agricultural and materials handling industries in southern Africa, backed by leading global brands.

Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE)

We currently hold Level 4 compliance in terms of the BBBEE Act, enabling customers to claim 100% of their procurement spend on their BEE scorecards.

Agriculture

We supply and support a wide range of leading brand agricultural equipment, and also provide direct key account management solutions. Our solutions for commercial and developing farming operations or projects include:

• Mechanisation planning and trusted advice;
• A wide range of latest technology equipment (Massey Ferguson, Challenger and Fendt brands);
• Digital farming solutions – hardware, software and professional services; and
• The highest levels of parts and technical support.

Massey Ferguson and Challenger equipment are sold and supported through BHBW dealers, while Fendt is available directly from BHBW.

We sell used agricultural equipment through Terra Firma, which also offers tractor rental.

Temo Parts, our replacement parts business, is also the international distributor of Tree Hog, an innovative South African designed water-saving irrigation solution.

Material Handling

As the exclusive southern African Hyster dealer since 1929, we offer unequalled experience in the world of materials handling.

We offer a comprehensive range of lift trucks and warehouse handling equipment to the market.  Our ability to match performance to the specific operating requirements of our customers ensures they will always have the right lift truck for their operation, delivering a low cost of ownership across the spectrum.

Our integrated solutions offering includes:

Our branch network with state-of-the-art workshop facilities and a large number of mobile and on-site technicians help ensure maximum uptime for customers. As part of our long-term commitment to customer support, we run the largest lift truck technician training programme in South Africa.

Our Handling customer base ranges from individuals with one lift truck to blue-chip companies operating multiple fleets. Our range is from pallet jacks to reach stackers lifting up to 52 tons and our accounts division strengthens our offering to large fleet owners.

Our History

We can trace our materials handling roots back to 1929 when Hyster lift trucks were first introduced into South Africa, and have been involved in agricultural mechanisation since 2001.

BHBW, which previously operated as Barloworld Handling and Barloworld Agriculture, was founded in 2017 when Barloworld South Africa entered into a 50/50 joint venture with German trading group BayWa AG to further their agricultural and materials handling operations in southern Africa.

This is the second joint venture between Barloworld and BayWa. In 2015, the two companies established a similar 50/50 partnership in Zambia, operating as BHBW Zambia. Strong synergies and a shared vision for supporting food production in sub-Saharan Africa resulted in a strengthening of this relationship.
